The Taqnin database aims to provide drafters, lawyers, judges, and legal researchers with efficient and simple functions to find legislation and court decisions related to their work.

The Taqnin database is:

• Donated by the Government of Canada (GoC)-Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT)

• Implemented by the Canadian NGO CANADEM through their office in Kabul the Canadian Governance Support Office (CGSO)

• Managed and updated by Afghan researchers from the Institute of Legislative Affairs and Academic Legal Research at the Ministry of Justice

Our task was to develop and implement a database that easy to use, easy to update and search. We've used Joomla CMS as the base for content management and built a custom extension that manages the database backend.

The database consists of 4 sections: Legislations, Consolidations, Judgments and Gazettes and is available in 3 languages: English, Pashto and Dari
